About the role

Role Purpose

The Americas Manager – Inspection is accountable for driving strategic growth, market development, senior client engagement, and overall operational performance for DNV Inspection in the United States.

While the role is primarily growth-led and externally focused, it also carries full accountability for ensuring that inspection operations in the USA are delivered in line with DNV standards, contractual commitments, and governance requirements, ensuring that growth is achieved in a controlled and sustainable manner.

Canada is considered a child country under the US operating model, with responsibility for establishment, expansion, and future operational development managed under the US structure.

In addition, the role is responsible for resource networking across the wider Americas to support US delivery and selected cross-border project needs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Growth & Market Development (USA)

  • Define and execute the USA growth strategy in line with MD direction and global Inspection priorities.
  • Drive growth across priority sectors in the USA, including:
    • Oil & Gas with a specific focus on LNG (export terminals, liquefaction, storage, pipelines, marine facilities, brownfield modifications)
    • Non–Oil & Gas sectors, including energy transition and industrial infrastructure such as solar, onshore wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), power generation and transmission, data centers, and related assets
    • Energy transition, industrial infrastructure, and related inspection services
  • Translate strategy into account plans, pursuit pipelines, and priority client lists.

2. Operational Delivery Accountability (USA)

  • Hold overall accountability for inspection delivery performance in the USA, ensuring:
    • Safe, compliant, and timely execution of inspection services
    • Appropriate deployment and utilization of resources
    • Effective handling of client issues, escalations, and delivery risks
  • Ensure close coordination with:
    • Operational and Area management structures
    • Technical functions and discipline leads
    • Compliance & Governance
  • Maintain a strong link between market growth commitments and delivery capability, ensuring operational readiness supports commercial ambition.

3. Oil & Gas / LNG Market Focus (USA)

  • Lead market positioning and client engagement for LNG-related inspection services in the USA.
  • Sponsor and support strategic pursuits with:
    • LNG owners and operators
    • EPCs and integrators
    • Terminal expansions, brownfield upgrades, integrity programs, and turnaround scopes
  • Ensure LNG opportunities are pursued with realistic delivery and resourcing models, aligned with DNV Inspection’s independence requirements.

4. Offshore Wind – US Region-Specific Focus

  • Drive growth and positioning across non–oil & gas sectors in the USA, recognizing differing maturity levels and investment cycles across markets.
  • Target sectors include, but are not limited to:
    • Power generation, transmission, and distribution
    • Solar and onshore wind projects
    • Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
    • Data centers and digital infrastructure
  • Build sector-specific client and stakeholder relationships, avoiding a one-size-fits-all market approach.
  • Act as senior sponsor for strategic pursuits and frameworks within these non–oil & gas sectors.
  • Establish and maintain a strong resource and partner ecosystem across the Americas, with:
    • Primary utilization to support US delivery
    • Scalable coverage across Canada and selected LATAM markets
  • Build relationships with:
    • Independent inspectors and SMEs
    • Specialist consultancies and niche partners
    • Fabricators, yards, ports, and logistics-critical stakeholders where relevant
  • Feed market and resourcing intelligence into the central Resource Management function (availability, rates, bottlenecks, mobilization risks).

5. Resource Networking & Market Access (Americas-wide)

6. Rail Vertical – Market Support Role (Non-Owning)

  • Provide market access and strategic support to the Rail vertical service line in the Americas.
  • Support includes:
    • Senior client engagement and door-opening
    • Market intelligence and pipeline visibility
    • Bid positioning and negotiation support upon request
  • No ownership of Rail technical governance, delivery, or vertical strategy.

7. Executive Client Engagement & Bids

  • Own and manage senior-level client relationships in the USA.
  • Act as executive sponsor for:
    • Strategic bids and framework agreements
    • Key negotiations and client alignment discussions
  • Support proposal teams with market insight, client strategy, and delivery realism.

8. Financial Accountability & Performance

  • Accountable for growth, revenue quality, and margin performance in the USA, in line with the approved annual budget.
  • Ensure business plans are ambitious but executable.
  • Monitor performance and initiate corrective actions where required.

9. Governance, Risk & Internal Alignment

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • DNV Group governance
    • Accreditation and independence requirements
    • US regulatory frameworks
  • Work in close coordination with (without overlap):
    • Compliance & Governance
    • Global Technical Director and technical hubs
  • Promote collaboration across Proposal, Resource Management, Systems, and other DNV Business Areas.
