[00:01] Hi, my name is Johanna and today I'll show you what it's like to work as an engineer in DNV.
[00:06] And I like to start my mornings playing tennis here on the roof.
[00:21] I work as an engineer in Maritime advisory
[00:24] in a section called Hydrodynamics and Stability.
[00:31] I think it must be the work with the wind assisted propulsion, which is a technology
[00:35] to decarbonize the shipping industry
[00:38] where the vessels use sails as an additional force for propulsion uh, to reduce emissions.
[00:46] We use a lot of the DNV software for wave analysis
[00:51] but we also use commercial software and, uh, programming like Python to code and script the calculations.
[01:15] To me, they are very open and welcoming
[01:17] and they all have a great expertise which promotes the development of our people.
[01:24] I'm the head of the social Committee in Connect, which is a networking group for all employees.
[01:31] I mostly collaborate with my colleagues in my own department, but some of us also collaborate a lot with the other people in other business areas.
[01:38] For, for instance, energy systems.
[01:41] To me, it's about how we face each other and how we collaborate
[01:45] because when you ask people for help, they're always very helpful
[01:48] and willing to take time out of their day to, to collaborate.
[01:59] You should reply as an engineer if you really want to challenge yourself technically and become really good at what you do.
[02:05] To me, it was about chip biodynamics and, uh, wave loads, but the company's big, so there's lots of disciplines to dig into.
[02:18] To finish up, uh, fun fact about me is that I'm part of a morning dip group
[02:23] and we swim in the fjord here every Wednesday, once a week throughout the whole year.
